I don't see that as suffering. You enjoyed, you loved, you shared and you will remember fondly.

Listened to a cd by Pema Chodron yesterday about this very thing ! (How to Meditate) Her message was that pain and happiness are part of life - stuff we just need to accept as part of our human existance. The suffering comes from our minds...placing "attachment" to things rather than accepting that the pain of lose is just part of life - a bittersweet part but a "normal" part. If we experience it all with our hearts and souls and we keep our minds out of it, we do not suffer. How to keep our minds out of it ? Meditate and celebrate ! Just like you did, Wise one! So it is only bad to be sad if we let it be so with those powerful minds of ours !

What a wonderful post. I now understand so much better your life there. My response was like Violet's---all four---it is all four---suffering, engaging in life, tasting, allowing yourself to love. What an experience, Kelly.

I am hoping that in your new life with a new career you are able to recreate what you experienced in Toronto in some way. That it is not like all of the hard-working years so much as it is an experience of moment by moment enjoyment. It could happen! I think it might :)

I learned a new word, "keener".

Much love, O

This IS beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

You asked:
Is this suffering? Or is this engaging in life? Tasting? Allowing myself to love?

I say: Yes.

What's so awesome, is how present you are to the now. That's how you experience real meaning that then becomes sweet in the remembering. You will always have other nows and the ability to create yet more sweetness for yourself. Fantastic!

This is a beautiful post, Kelly. I'm so glad you had this time studying and learning and getting attached. Of course, especially at the time we have to transit, move on, say goodbye, say hello to the next step, it is human to feel sad. And beautiful and okay. I think the point abt attachment would be not to get attached to the sadness, but to experience it, to feel it and to know it too is impermanent and will become a memory along with all the other memories. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I always learn so much from you Kelly. Your spirit of kindess and query and intelligence shines through so strongly in your posts. Good luck as you continue along the path and a wave from me down here trudging on my own path. I am glad we are on the earth at the same time!
