We made this…
Our version includes the original crosses plus Islamic Moons, Stars of David, Buddhist lotus flowers, etc. I wish I could include a photo of the students of all faiths working together on it.

I absolutely love this Kelly! It demonstrates so well what this time of year is all about. A big ‘well done’ to you and all your students!
Thank you so much, Patti! I love it, too! And the fact that it’s so delicate means that–much like the Tibetan monks’ sand mandalas–it will very soon be returning to dust. C’est la vie.

Kelly, this is beautiful! xoxo
Thank you, Annie! K
I too love this, Kelly! It looks so similar to the fancy-dancy Sundance Catalog one, and is so very meaningful because of the students of different faiths who came together to work on it. I really like the picture of you by the tree too! xoO
Thanks, Olivia! Today the ladies in the class were asking me the URL of the Sundance site, how much I paid for the materials, where I bought the materials, etc. I laid it all out for them…the total for silver poster board, dowels, tinfoil, little wire hangers, etc. was about $5. They laughed and continued to take notes. I wonder how many of the students’ homes will have knock-off Milagro trees this year? :) K
beautiful, you are such a gift to your students, and they to you.
Thank you, Elaine! K
such a great idea. i imagine your students will remember doing this with their classmates for years. bravo. suki
Thanks, Suki! We didn’t win, but in a way we did because of what we got out of the experience. K
