Grace in Small Things – 276

  • Something FUN! Clearly I need a job. I justified spending time learning this since it might make a great Friday afternoon activity for an ESL class. Vocabulary: corner, mountain fold, valley fold, nose, tail. Grammar point – imperative form of verb.
  • Something beautiful. Glancing out the sliding glass doors to see a very fat, full moon rising over the lake and four swans swimming through the reflection path on the water. My goodness, this is a beautiful world.
  • Something funny! Suki asked her blog readers: is there a song named for you or are you named for a song? If so, post it and let her know. Sure, there is a Kelly song. I’ll bet you know it.
  • Getting snail mail today… on Letter Writers Alliance stationery, no less! I have the coolest friends in the world.
  • Frugal date night. I’m going over to Sylvain’s to watch a movie.

  1. Wasn’t the moon wonderful tonight ?
No swans for me, just a grey empty car park as I left work, but I sat there for a few minutes and gazed at it just the same.
Mars is somewhere close to it, and being in opposition to the sun makes for good viewing if you have the equipment.

  2. It sounds like you had a pretty neat day….enjoy the movie!

  3. I sing the Kelly song in the tub every day!! :-)
For someone who doesn’t own a TV you sure can pull out the TV pop culture when you want to. My dad LOVED this episode of Cheers and laughed his head off at the Kelly song.

    • You have to remember that I grew up with TV and also lived in a home with TV on 16 hours a day, 7 days a week for three years. I think I memorized a few Star Trek episodes and some South Park, too. Plus when I lived with you, I watched TV over your mom’s shoulder while I ironed your shirts once a week.

  4. I was named for that song ‘brandi you’re a fine girl’ and yes I get it sung to me all the time. ;-)

  5. Have followed the song link at last.
Oh :P Cheers was my all-time favourite comedy show ! Was devastated when Nick Colasanto died and thought that Woody could never replace him, but what an inspired piece of casting that was.
Still have the video of the last ever episode. :(

  6. “Once in love with Amy
Always in love with Amy…” A really neat guy used to belt that out throughout the corridors of our High School. I did not like the song, but I loved him singing it! – Amy
