Ok, I admit it. I’ve finished reading chapter four. The absolute MOST FUN exercise EVER is at the end of the chapter. To help us be more in the moment and recognize the beauty of now, Cameron has us buy a sketch book, proceed through an ordinary day but do a little sketching along the way.
Sketch the doctor’s waiting room. If you go for a cappuccino, draw the cafe. You are seeking to become enchanted with yourself as a character.
Well okay, then!
I had slept so very, very late that I’d missed a brunch I’d half planned to go to. Maybe. By the time I got bathed and dressed, the sun was screaming, beaming through the windows. I HAD to get out. I sat for a while at my Princess Cafe and did a couple of sketches in my journal, ignoring the lines on the paper.
La la
Then I took a nice long stroll to a shopping centre that has a dollar store and bought a proper little sketch book. I stopped in a diner and had a small repast while doing more sketching. Since visual art is not my usual medium of creative expression, this was especially fun for me.
On my way back home I stopped in my little cafe yet again for a bowl of soup and another sketch. Boy, days like today make me feel so fortunate to have my weekends entirely, blissfully to myself.

I finished chapter 4 also, and want to enjoy that last prompt, but can’t sketch to save my life! Might be fun to try it anyway. Yours are fun!

look at you!! you multi-talented woman, you! that’s awesome. i’m glad you’ve been able to dive into chapter 4 head first. i agree, that exercise is quite fun. i was thinking about getting a smaller sketchbook for the task, but we shall see.

What a fun time you are all having with this Water book! I am enjoying seeing and hearing about the fruits of your labor.
The drawings are great Kelly. A little of mom’s genes seeping through? I think so!

Yes, I’m SO glad I–totally on a moment’s whim–decided to do this course with other bloggers. Now that we’re rolling and I’m getting so many benefits from it, I can see that it was a “meant to be.” K

These are so cool. I wish I could draw that well. (It’s not my medium of creative expression either, but with me there are good reasons for that–nobody would be able to understand what I was trying to draw).

You have SO many talents, Queen Kelly! Sitting in your cafe, enjoying a sunshiney day and sketching? Sounds absolutely heavenly!

I admire you for doing the exercises, as well as for your drawing skills. The pictures really capture the feel of your day. What a challenging exercise, and how cool is it that you just took it on and found it fun!

What a treat to get to see the world from your eyes for a day:-)
BTW–Thanks for stopping by and commenting. We’ll have to swap Japan stories sometime. Actually, my library of Japan stories is still growing ’cause I’m still here in Nara!!!
Look forward to reading more of your adventures.
All the best, Steven

Do you remember the words to that song “Ugga Bugga Oh Moe Moe”? I can’t find them anywhere.

Chapter 4 was definitely faster for me too (maybe because last week felt so overhwelming and tedious?) — I’m enjoying re-reading it and savoring each exercise . . . looks like you are too. :) I agree with Laura about your sketches — the simplicity of subject and line is refreshing! Maybe I’ll be brave and post my attempts, too. They’ll be good for a laugh, anyway. :)
Also, your mom’s artwork is breathtaking — such color!

Love your sketches! I had to go and have a look at the last divining rod when I read your comment (thank you very much) and this will be fun! :)
Your Mum’s artwork is absolutely stunning – no wonder your sketches are so good, you must’ve inherited some of that incredible talent, at least!
Great to meet you. Wait for us to catch up before you go screaming through chapter 5, will you?! ;) lol :)
